Supporta plc strengthens the Board
The Board of Supporta has announced appointment of Bernadette Walsh and Stephen Whiting to the plc Board from 1 June 2007. In addition, David Jackson is leaving the Board of Directors to pursue another opportunity. He is replaced as Group Finance Director by Darren Xiberras with immediate effect.
Bernadette, Director of Supporta Care, has over twenty two years experience in the delivery of outsourced homecare services and solutions to the public sector. She has an outstanding reputation and an excellent track record with Local Authorities in providing very high standards of service. Prior to her appointment as Managing Director of Supporta Care, Walsh was MD of Medico - one of the Social Care brands within Nestor plc and a director Grosvenor Nursing Ltd.
Stephen, Managing Director of Supporta Professional Services Ltd, has fifteen years experience in the outsourcing and professional services industries. He was previously Group Finance Director of HBS Business Services Ltd and prior to that he enjoyed operational responsibility for a wide range of white collar services business supplying both the private and public sectors. He has a wide experience of acquisitions, divestments and the implementation of major business change within the support services industry.
Darren is a Chartered Certified Accountant, a graduate of the Advanced Development Programme of Cranfield University's School of Management and holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Cardiff University. Immediately prior to this role, he held the position of Director of Mergers & Acquisitions with Supporta plc.
Darren has extensive financial management experience with fast-growing companies in the support services sector, including operational financial management, business acquisitions and disposals, acquisition integration, system implementations, public/private contract negotiations and management, sales support and pricing of large outsourcing contracts.
Prior to joining Supporta plc, he held the roles of Divisional Finance Director at Tribal Education Limited, a subsidiary of the Tribal Group plc, and Regional Finance Director of HBS Business Services Limited, where he was responsible for business units with up to £75m annual turnover. He trained as an accountant within the utilities industry.
Group Chief Executive John Jasper said: 'We are grateful to David for his work during the restructuring of the group over the last twelve months. I am delighted that we are able to strengthen the Board with the appointment of Bernadette and Stephen, both will bring extensive experience in care and professional services. In addition, Darren is a highly experienced financial manager, who knows the company well, and whom I have worked with over the past eight years and we are confident that he is the right person to take us on to the next stage of our development.
